Air Tasers, Stun Guns and the LawAir Tasers and Stun Guns are "STRICTLY DEFENSIVE WEAPONS"
and should be used as such! Failure to use these devices in a responsible
way and for Defensive Purposes "ONLY" may and will be prosecuted to the
fullest extent of the law!
Customer Note: It is the responsibility of the buyer, and not the seller,
to ascertain and obey all applicable local, state and federal and in some
cases international laws with regard to the possession, and the use of
any item sold on these pages. By placing an order, the buyer represents
that the products ordered will be used in a lawful manner and that he/she
is of legal age. No sales to minors.
TASER LEGALITY
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) has classified the AIR TASER
as a non-firearm because it uses compressed air, rather than an explosive to
launch the projectiles. Because the AIR TASER is not a firearm:
· It can be carried in a pocket, car or purse legally without a permit. (Again,
check state laws)
· It can be purchased through mail order and direct shipment.
· There is no waiting period for a purchase. Rather than checking a person's
background to see if they have been caught committing a crime in the past, the
AIR TASER AFID™ system (see below) prevents users from committing a crime in
the future through complete product traceability. AIR TASERs™ are registered
via a simple card used exclusively by TASER International, Inc. The AIR TASER
is still not available in certain states where electronic weapons are restricted.
Those states (Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island,
and Wisconsin) are shown on the States with Air Taser & Stun Gun Restrictions
page. There may also exist regulations in certain localities which impede citizens'
rights to possess non-lethal self-defense products such as the AIR TASER. However,
the AIR TASER is legal for sale and possession in the vast majority of the United
States.
You should never attempt to take an AIR TASER anywhere that weapons are
prohibited, such as court rooms, schools, or onto airplanes (you must put the
AIR TASER in checked luggage).
RESPONSIBILITY AND PREVENTING CRIME
Unfortunately, there will be those who will seek to utilize the AIR TASER not
for self-defense, but to commit a crime. To prevent this from happening, TASER
International, Inc. has introduced the Anti-Felon Identification (AFID)™ program.
Here's how it works:
1. A Criminal shoots the AIR TASER at a victim, launching not only the darts,
but spraying the scene of the crime with over 20 pieces of microfilm printed
with the serial number (AFIDs) of the Air Cartridge used.
2. The criminal cannot possibly try to find all the AFIDs™, which are harder
to find than contact lenses, and flees the crime scene.
3. Police arrive and have time to painstakingly inspect the scene, find the
AFIDs™ and return to the lab to read the numbers under a magnifying glass.
4. Police call TASER International, Inc. to obtain registration information
for the device used. The criminal is promptly tracked down and arrested, using
the matching serial number on the Air Cartridge housing as evidence against
him (or the serial numbers of other Air Cartridges which were purchased with
the one used). We seek not only to provide a new, highly effective non-lethal
self-defense weapon, but a comprehensive solution for lessening the violence
problem in this country. And, as a part of that, TASER International, Inc. enforces
accountability for the way in which people use our products.
In order to protect yourself, you must fill in the accompanying registration
card if you give the unit to anyone else. This registers the unit to that person.
Otherwise, it will remain registered to you and you will remain responsible
(POSSIBLY LIABLE) for its use or misuse. If your unit is stolen, use this same
card to report it immediately. If you do not have this card, please call (888)
811-8864 and our customer service representatives will file the report for you.
