Training
Stun devices can be used to temporarily disable a person and provide you with the time you need to safely use the area, but you need to use them properly. You can have proper training in the use of stun guns and air tasers through private firms or individuals within your city or county. Also you can check with your local law enforcement agency since they may be able to offer you the proper training.
When using non-lethal stun devices some important guidelines and information you need to know are listed below:
Leave the area immediately after you have taken action whether it is with an air taser or stun gun/baton. Don't stop to admire the effects after you have gained the advantage. All assailants will react differently, some may not even respond for several minutes or more. Occasionally, although rare, some attackers are only deterred for a few seconds. It is best to assume that any advantage is short liver and to leave the area immediately. Because up front you need to understand that some individuals on drugs are only momentarily disabled, especially those on PCP. So leave immediately and don't assume the assailant will be down and out for several minutes.
If an assailant has a firearm you should try to defend yourself against them. The odds are big that you will lose. You life isn't worth any piece of jewelry or amount of money. Only use these products if you feel certain that the armed assailant intends to shoot you, at this time you may not have another option. Quickly get out of the assailants line of sight once you have initiated the action and leave the area as soon as you can to contact the authorities with a complete description of your assailant. Although many assaults come from assailants who are unarmed. If people are armed they will typically have a non-lethal weapon. Firearms are used a lot less than media hype has you believe. Therefore, in most attacks the odds are on your side.
Stun Gun and Stun Baton Training
Stun devices use a series of quick, painful socks that enter the body through the skin form the purposes of getting an attacker out of your personal space. Therefore, they become a weapon of discouragement and surprise. This send the message to an attacker to stay away because you won't go down easy. You can use these devices to create some space or distance between your attacker and yourself. Often times an attacker will be discouraged by this aggressive response along with old-fashioned yelling.
It is fairly simple to use the recommended stun device self defense, you just drive the device into the upper shoulder, stomach, groin or other sort of muscle area like the neck or kidney and them pull the trigger.
1) An attacker will be startled by a short burst of ¼ second in duration which causes minor muscle contractions and repeal an attach effectively.
2) A blast of one to four seconds will cause the attacker to drop to the ground.
3) An attacker can be immobilized by a full charge of five seconds or more which causes disorientation and loss of balance. Afterwards the attacker may fall to the ground and be weak or dazed for several minutes.
